ACM - Robots, oh my.

Anxiously doing final checkout of the robot
Today our local ACM chapter got our robot functional! We started with a pile of parts and somehow ended up with a robot.

Today, in about two hours, we successfully built the basic 'Tumbler' design included in the Vex Robotics kit. We cut a few corners which lead to some initial problems, but in the end we were able to get it to respond to directional commands from the remote.

In the video below you can see it moving, just not in the way we expected. The corner we cut here was that we programmed it with an arbitrary motor configuration. This lead to it being somewhat awkward to control. Simply downloading a new firmware fixed this issue, and everything has been great since.
We had 10 people attend this event, which was pretty huge for our local chapter. I'm currently the 'chair' of this project, but a few people demonstrated organization and leadership so hopefully someone will be willing to take this over.
